Dalian ‘Mayor Cup’ Football League 2017-2018 Season has been initiated. As the Youth Football League renowned in Dalian, the ‘Mayor Cup’ has become an important link for the cultivation of reserve youth football talents. In the new season, the ‘Mayor Cup’ Football League will be divided into two halves and last for one year, with the weekly competition system adopted; in the first-half of the season, there will be 65 football teams and 15,000 football players participating. The number of games for the first half will exceed 680.
This ‘Mayor Cup’ League will be divided into four age groups as per players’ birth years, and the competitions will be held in three places in the city, respectively. As the landmark of sports in Dalian, Dalian Sports Center will undertake the eight-player football matches. The other two places are Dongbeilu Primary School and Western Olympic Football Outer Field.
It is learned that the mode of professional league will be adopted for this league, with all the participating teams from Dalian Green Project Schools. During the competition, Dalian Football Association will organize prominent coaches to establish expert evaluation group. Therefore, each player will have the opportunity to be selected for the training camp in the National-level Youth Training Center to participate in football trainings of higher quality. Football team(s) of outstanding performances in the league will have the opportunity to participate in national competitions on behalf of Dalian.
Dalian ‘Mayor Cup’ Football League is an event of long history. Since opened to the public, the Sports Center has undertaken this event for three consecutive years, and has rich experience in site guarantee. Before the event, the Center will get fully prepared in accordance with the weather conditions, ranging from the preparation of sunshades, substitutes benches, lines, eight-player football goals, nets to corner flags; during the competition, carry out on-site services, and management to site security; after the event, clean and restore the sites. Such procedures will provide comprehensive guarantee for the smooth progress of ‘Mayor Cup’ League.
This year happens to be the right timing for Dalian Yifang Football Team to return to the Super League. Whether it is the atmosphere of home games, or the hot football market outside of the football fields, they both show the confidence of resurgence of this football city.
